Liturgical Ministry

The primary work of this ministry is to serve the presider and the assembly by enhancing the readiness of our parish community to celebrate liturgy, especially Sunday Mass.  This ministers serve behind the scenes at each Mass and make sure that everything required for the Mass is in place.

The lectors have the important and priviledged responsibility of proclaiming God's Word at Mass.  Any Confirmed parishioner with good reading skills is encouraged to become a Lector.  Advanced preparation is required which includes reading aloud the assigned readings for that week to ensure proper proclamation of God's Word

Serving at the altar of God is a most sacred way of participation in Mass.  Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion function as servants to the body of Christ, God's people.  The primary focus of their ministry is to serve our parish with fidelity, reverence, and love.

What does a sacristan do?
As Sacristan, there are three main roles: Security–(of the sacristy and most importantly, the Eucharist), Mass Set Up and Clean Up. The Sacristan will serve both roles each time they are Sacristan.

Security: The Sacristan is responsible for assuring proper treatment of the Holy Species, namely that of the Sacred Blood and Blessed Sacrament during and after the celebration. They are also responsible for keeping the Holy Tabernacle secure.

Mass set up and clean up vary slightly depending on the individual Mass and presider. At every Mass, they are responsible for setting up for both Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist which means preparing all the books, vessels, offertory, and incense when appropriate.
