Funerals
At St. Thomas More Parish, we understand that the loss of a loved one can be an incredibly difficult and emotional time. We are here to offer our sincere support and guidance as you navigate the process of funeral preparation and cope with the feelings of grief and loss.
Catholic funerals hold a deeply significant role in the Catholic faith. They are a time for family, friends, and the faith community to come together to celebrate the life of the deceased loved one and to find strength, comfort, and hope in prayer.
The funeral liturgy includes readings from the Scriptures, prayers for the deceased, and the Eucharistic celebration.
The rituals and prayers offered during the funeral serve as a source of comfort and hope for those who mourn, reaffirming the belief in the resurrection and the promise of eternal life.
In addition to the spiritual aspects, Catholic funerals also provide a space for the expression of grief and the support of those who are mourning the loss of their loved one simply by being present.
Committals
We understand that individuals and families may choose not to have a traditional funeral service for various reasons. In these instances, the Catholic Church offers the option of a committal service as a way to honor and pray for the deceased loved one.
A committal service, also known as a graveside service, is a brief gathering that takes place at the gravesite or the location of the interment of the deceased. During this service, prayers are offered, and final respects are paid as the individual is laid to rest.
If you or your loved ones have chosen not to have a funeral and are considering a committal service, please feel free to reach out to our parish office. Our clergy and staff are available to assist you in making the necessary arrangements and to provide spiritual support during this difficult time.
To plan a funeral Mass or committal, please contact the parish office at 425.743.2929
May God's grace and comfort surround you as you navigate this period of loss and remembrance. We hope that those who are grieving may find solace in the traditions of our faith.
